Academia De Padres
UIC- Hispanic Center for Excellence
The Academia de Padres is a special program for the parents of Latino students who are interested in pursuing careers in the medical profession. This program is designed to provide a holistic support system to increase the social and cultural capital of college-bound students.
Research shows that parents who are equipped to help their children through the college application process have a greater rate of acceptance to college and completing a college degree. Parents who participate in this program are invited to monthly seminars where they are exposed to information about the higher education system and are given the tools to best support their children through the educational development process.
The seminars are in Spanish and take place on Saturdays at UIC throughout the school year.
The program is free of cost.
